A Sad Week

We lost some major Icons this week. I cannot believe 2 in one day. Here are some pictures of the 3 people who have passed on. My thoughts & prayers go out to all the loved ones they have left behind.

I remember watching Johnny Carson when I was a kid & hearing "Heeeeeeeeeeeeere's Johnny!". People say when you heard that phrase, you knew something great was starting. I truly believe that!

Star Search discovered some great pop talents of our time. I will always remember Ed McMahon in Star Search, Johnny Carson, & American Family Publishers Sweepstakes. Peace be with you Ed.

This poster made Farrah Fawcett a sex symbol in the 70's. Charlie's Angels was what made her famous even though she was only on it for 1 season.

I love people who start trends. Farrah's hair sure did start a trend! It even came back around recently. I respect her for her very public battle with cancer. She seemed so brave & I feel for her loved ones who had to watch her suffer. She is in a better place now, at rest & free from pain.

I think this was the most shocking loss of the week. It was so sudden. I am sad to learn that the King of Pop is no more. Regardless of all the crazy things Michael Jackson has done the past few years & all the controversy he has been involved in, he remains one of my favorite artists of all time. The person he was aside, Michael Jackson formed dance in only a way that he could have done. I think Smooth Criminal is one of the best videos EVER. MJ influenced almost all of the Pop & Hip Hop Artists of our generation.

Rest in Peace Michael Jackson. This is the Michael that I love.

Beyonce, Beyonce

I love Beyonce! I think she has an amazing voice & she has proven to be one of the best performers of her generation. She is definitely one of my favorite artists. I like her so much that I paid $20.00 to be a part of her VIP Fan Club so I could buy tickets to her tour before they went on sale to the public. HA! I'm so not lying. I found some pictures of her show in New York on Yahoo! & thought I would share. I can't wait to see her in concert!!!

With hubby Jay-Z. I hope he shows up when I see her at the Honda Pond in July. Yes, I meant to say Honda Pond.

Look at her legs! OMG!

All the single ladies! All the single ladies! All the single ladies! Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh!

Awesome! Gold people!!!! I bet this is what she wears for Diva!

OK- so I do love Beyonce, but ummm yeah... This is what she wears for Ave Maria. Blet. Not cute. But I still love her.

More Dresses!

On Yahoo! they posted some pictures for this week's 2 Hot 2 Handle. I posted my favorites & think some of you will be surprised by one, maybe more, of my choices.

Cameron Diaz finally got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Well it's about time! I mean they already gave Ryan Seacrest one for "broadcasting". Blet! Don't get me started on him. Anyway! Cameron is wearing a lovely Oscar de la Renta dress. I love white dresses, I think they are perfect for Summer. I super love how Cam added the very stylish red belt & matching red shoes! Soooo good for my OCD! Nice job Cameron...or Cameron's stylist! Absolutely lovely!

Everyone knows how much I love the CW & their shows! I promise I don't only like this because Blake Lively stars in Gossip Girl. =oD Actually, I really love this dress & how it pops! Yes, I know it's pink (I hate pink), but this really works for me. It's a Michael Kors dress, so how can you not love it? I really like dresses with pockets, too. Hot, hot hot!

Sigh...Megan Fox. This girl is hot! Yes, I am aware of her hotness, even though I'm a girl. Again, white dresses are superb for Summer & it looks great with her black hair. I love the black at the waist too. This Grecian looking dress is to die for! It's a Kaufman Franco dress. Can I please have one?!

This is a Max Azria dress...this is Camilla Belle & she is "dating" Joe Jonas. Hmmmm....I'm not too sure what to think about that. I do however know that this dress is so very cute! I like the shade of green...sometimes lighter shades of green are not good at all & they can wash people out, depending on their complexion. Well, I like the flow of this dress & her purse is super cute too!

Jada Pinkett Smith...love her! Actually, I love her hubby, I just like Jada a lot. =oD Jada is wearing a Dolce & Gabbana dress. Love it, love it, love it!! The shoes are absolutely gorgeous & I like the contrast they give the outfit. Super hot.

Tim Burton Rocks!

Photos have just been released for Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland that is due out March 5, 2010. Can I just say that Tim Burton is artistically twisted? I love how he takes these characters & puts his crazy twist on them. So far, these are the only characters that they have released photos for. Check it out. What do you think?

The new Alice. I guess Tim Burton's version will take place when Alice returns to Wonderland as a teenager.

OK, how can you not want to see a movie that Johnny Depp is in?! I love all the make-up & how he looks absolutely...well, MAD as the Mad Hatter!

This is the Red Queen who is different than the Queen of Hearts from the Disney animated movie. Her head is going to be blown up 6 times it's regular size for the movie. LOVE it!

Oh Anne Hathaway... I just love her. She plays the White Queen. Can you tell? Her character & Alice are the only characters that won't be digitally enhanced for the movie.

Tweedledee & Tweedledum...I work with 2 people that are like these "Twins".
I cannot wait for this movie to have a trailer out! Tell me this isn't something you want to see now that you've been shown some pictures!

I Love Roy's

One of my very favorite foods is chocolate. My absolute favorite dessert is Roy's Hawaiian Fusion's Chocolate Souffle. Mmmmm buddy!

For Father's day on Sunday, we are going to Roy's & I cannot wait to have one of these babies!!! I could seriously eat 2 of these in a sitting. You know something tastes good when the picture makes it look so scrumptious. It's even better in person! Sigh.......Sunday cannot come soon enough.
You will soon see a post dedicated just to Roy's & how much I love that place!

iPhone Madness

So if you know me really well, you know that I am a letter writer. When something makes me angry, I will write a letter or send an e-mail to the company about whatever it is that made me mad. I have to say this is one of the quirky things about myself that I actually like. Since the newest iPhone is coming out tomorrow, I find myself contemplating buying a new one because it will have a lot more features that my OG iPhone doesn't have. While I contemplate this, I reminisce about one of the "letters" I had sent last year to Steve Jobs complaining about the iPhone. Here is the e-mail that I sent to Steve Jobs back in June of 2008:

Hello Mr. Steve Jobs,

I hope this e-mail finds you well. I would like to let you know that many of my friends and I own iPhones. I love most features of the iPhone, but there is one thing that it does not do that bothers me very much. Whenever anyone who isn't cool enough to own an iPhone sends me a picture text, I cannot see it on my phone. I need to log-on to a website & type in a password to see the photo. It is difficult to do this on Safari on the iPhone because you would need to memorize or write down the username & password to view it. Therefore, you would need to wait to see the photo until you get home if you happen to be out when you receive the text. Plus, you cannot access it weeks later if you wanted to & there is no way of keeping the photo sent to you if you want to. The iPhone is such an advanced phone & I truly believe that it should have a basic feature that Motorola or LG phones have, which are far inferior to the iPhone.

I would like to add that I am now a very big fan of Apple products. In about an 8 month span, I bought 2 iPods, a Macbook, & the iPhone. I hope that my feedback is something that may be taken into consideration when the next update goes out for the iPhone. Thank you for your time!

Kind Regards,

Kristi Wong

So that is one of my e-mails. The next iPhone that is coming out will have pictures texts & video! I would like to think that Mr. Steve Jobs took my feedback into consideration. =oD Hahaha!!!

Dresses, dresses

I love to see what people wear on the Red Carpet for all kinds of events & premieres. I aspire to be a Red Carpet dress designer one day...

Here are some that I found today

Taylor Swift is so adorable. I like how this dress doesn't make her look old. It's glamorous, but fits her young age.

I like the top half of this dress; not so crazy about the bottom half. I think it would have been better to have only 2 or 3 tiers. This type of fabric makes the dress look too frilly with all those layers.

Halle is so beautiful, but this dress is even more gorgeous! I love it all! The one shoulder is very sexy & the way the bottom of the dress flows when she walk is simply stunning. The detail at the waist & across the chest is a great contrast to the lilac dress too. LOVE!!

Bling Ring

I was surfing the web the other day & came across this article on Yahoo! This is a picture of the new Super Bowl Ring.

Now, here are the specs:
Each ring weighs 3.7 ounces
Each ring has 62 diamonds that equal 3.61 carats
The face features six big diamonds, one for each Steelers Super Bowl win
Seven smaller diamonds at the top represent the Steelers' 7 conference championships
Then there are seven more diamonds at the bottom that represent the Steelers 14 divisional titles

OK...really? Why do football players need such BLING? They say this ring is the biggest they have ever made. Aren't we in a recession? I mean seriously...WTF?!

A Great Day with Friends

On Saturday some friends & I went on an all day excursion of LA fun. We started in Pasadena & took the Gold line down to Old Pasadena where we went to Lucky Baldwin's. We (meaning my friends) drank beer, we ate fries & gravy, & then headed to Chinatown.

We visited Homegirl Cafe, which is owed
by Opportunities For Learning- where my wonderful friend Carrie works. Casey & I bought Cannoli here & they were absolutely delicious!

Onward to Chinatown! We ate Dim Sum at Empress Pavilion Restaurant & then stopped at Robocon. This is a great store for Asian toys, clothes, comic books, & accessories.
I love this store because there is so much to look at. The toys are so cool & they have things that you just cannot find in stores in a mall. I feel very Asian when I'm in there!

Now, after buying 2 shirts & a few toys for my girl Jenny, we walked around Chinatown some mor
e looking for the Mountain Bar. This was fun because Zac could not remember where it was. Thank goodness for the iPhone! We were able to start walking in the right direction, but we couldn't find the little street it was on. We had to ask a guy in a shoe store....who was cute for an Asian guy. Thankfully he knew where it was, which was in the middle of the Plaza...not really on a "street". Anyway, it was closed so we ventured back to the Gold line & waited for the train to take us to Union Station. It was very windy, as you can see (by Megan's hair in this picture).

Once we got to Olvera Street, we ate super yummy taquitos, which I think were the best I ever had in my whole life.

Every
one had wine margaritas at this cute restaurant and then we started to walk around & shop some more. Zac bought a wonderful little accordion. Now, this might be the most fun part of the day....Zac & Daniel should start a band together. Zac started to play the accordion & Daniel sang in the street for all to see. It was absolutely awesome! I wish I had video of it! But I do have pictures!!

Zac is very into the accordion

Daniel's singing beautifully accompanies Zac's accordion

After Zac & Daniel serenaded everyone, we walked for what seemed like forever into Little Toyko. We went into the Japanese Market known as Marukai & bought snacks & sake. There we discovered some very interesting things! See below.

This is Megan confused by what she is holding. What is this?

This is Casey with the "Volvic" water. Hmmm...

This is me holding the "One Cup Sake". It really looks like the cup you pee in at the doctor's office. I love random Asian stuff!!

After that we stopped at another bar that I cannot remember the name of & while walking we ran across this...

You cannot tell me this is one of the best posters you have ever seen!!

Then we went to Cole's in Downtown LA. They are the originators of the French Dip sandwich! Yummmm!! It was amazing & I'm sad that it's so far from home. If you're ever in Downtown LA, you must stop at this restaurant. Apparently they have good beer too!

Once we were finished stuffing our faces, we headed back to Pasadena via the Metro system. But before we got on the Metro, I took these pictures of LA. I never realized just how beautiful Downtown LA was. I went to school in LA & used to work in the Fashion District. I think I was traumatized by the city because of the crazy traffic & all the homeless people everywhere. But being in this part of LA makes me see another side of LA. It's absolutely beautiful when the sun is setting!!

These pictures are an amazing way to end an amazing day!!!

Next please

In 2 years when the lease is up on my car, THIS is what I must absolutely have!! It's the new Lexus IS250 C. I have always wanted a convertible & this, my friends, may be the one. I am in love...
